Meet Toni Schafer — sign language interpreter turned licensed Realtor, investor, and founder of the ASL Real Estate Collective.

10+ years in real estate

I'm Toni Schafer — and I've lived in both worlds.

For years, I worked as a sign language interpreter while building my own real estate portfolio on the side. I was fluent in ASL and deep in real estate at the same time — and I kept noticing a painful gap.

Deaf buyers and sellers were navigating one of life's biggest transactions — buying a home, selling a property, building generational wealth — without the right language support, without clear explanations, and often without anyone in their corner who truly understood their experience.

I started hearing their stories. Horror stories about bad deals, missed opportunities, and moments of confusion that cost real money. And I knew I could do something about it.

I became a licensed Realtor. Then I started teaching — in ASL, in person, to small groups who were hungry for this information. People started sending their friends. Their friends sent theirs. Before long, the demand had spread across state lines.

That's when I built the ASL Real Estate Collective — a nationwide platform for the Deaf community to learn real estate, in American Sign Language, with no barriers, no translators, no confusion.

  • Licensed Realtor
  • Sign language interpreter
  • Real estate investor
  • ASL educator
  • Nationwide community builder

The Deaf community deserves equal access to real estate knowledge.

Real estate transactions are complex enough on their own. Now imagine navigating all of it without your primary language — relying on interpreters who may not know industry terms, or struggling through written contracts that assume a lifetime of context you were never given.

That's the reality for millions of Deaf Americans. Not because they aren't capable — but because the resources were never built for them.

The ASL Real Estate Collective changes that. Everything we create is built ASL-first — not translated from English, not captioned as an afterthought. Built in your language, for your community.

  • ASL first — always

Every course, call, and webinar is created in American Sign Language. Captions and voiceover are added — not the other way around.

  • Built by someone who gets it

Toni isn't just a real estate educator — she's an ASL interpreter who has worked alongside the Deaf community for years and understands the gap from both sides.

  • Real knowledge, no filler

No fluff. No upsells disguised as education. Toni teaches what you actually need to know to buy, sell, invest, and build wealth with confidence.

  • Nationwide reach

This isn't a local class anymore. Members join from across the country — Deaf community members in every state learning and growing together.

What we believe

Four principles that shape everything we create and every decision we make.

  • Language is access.

Real estate information available only in English is not accessible to ASL users. We create everything in ASL first — because language is the foundation of understanding, not an afterthought.

  • Community over competition.

We're not building a hustle brand. We're building a community. The Deaf community is stronger together — and that's the kind of space we want to be.

  • Education should be honest.

No hype. No get-rich-quick promises. Real estate is powerful, but it also requires real knowledge and careful decisions. We teach you both the opportunities and the risks — honestly.

  • Representation matters.

When the Deaf community sees Deaf professionals buying homes, building portfolios, and thriving in real estate — it changes what they believe is possible for themselves. We exist to make that visible.

Licensed, experienced, and in your corner.

Toni is a licensed Realtor, a former sign language interpreter, and a real estate investor who has worked both sides of the industry for over a decade.

She knows the difference between how real estate transactions are explained in textbooks and how they actually go in the real world — and she teaches the real version.

When she's not teaching, she's helping buyers and sellers navigate real transactions, building the Collective's course library, and hosting live community calls with members from every state.
